Stylish garden decor ideas to transform your outdoor space
We’re back from a week at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park, exhausted but elated to be at events again.
It was lovely to chat in-person with customers and re-connect with fellow small businesses. Plus, of course, absorb the utterly inspiring gardens themselves.
From contemporary garden décor to traditional artisanal planters (and a greenhouse I can’t get out of my head), there was an abundance of fantastic products and ideas for your garden.
These are seven of my favourite businesses designing and crafting beautiful garden accessories – and they’re all run by wonderful people too!
A Blackbird Sang
Walking into this stand at Tatton Park, I was stunned by the impact of these metal silhouettes, some delicate and intricate, others simple and bold.
I love this steel wall art detailing a blackthorn hedgerow intertwined with the memorable words from Audrey Hepburn, so relevant to today: to plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.
The Terracotta Pot Company
It’s always great fun catching up with the father-son team from The Terracotta Pot Company.
They supply handthrown terracotta pots and water features from the island of Crete. The planters provide the best environment for any plant, whilst adding a whole heap of mediterranean style to your outdoor space. Their pots come with an unbelievable 50-year frost-proof guarantee too. I would urge you not to settle for the imitations!
Breeze House
These luxury timber gazebos were an absolute dream in the recent heatwave (and the ensuing downpours). When I had a moment during the RHS Flower Show 2021 at Tatton Park, I escaped to the Breeze House stand for a cheeky sit down!
One of their traditional thatched garden buildings would be absolutely perfect for alfresco dining and creating a laidback social space in your garden.
The Woodee
I love it when our show stand is next to Louise’s from The Woodee. Our shared passion for outdoor living, beautiful handcrafted products, fantastic wine (and ice cream) make for a wonderful few days buzzing with fun and new business ideas.
The Woodee make stunning fire pits and are just perfect for taking centre stage at garden parties and family get-togethers. An alfresco lamb tagine would work a treat cooked in a Dutch oven in one of their fabulous fire pits.
Hartley Botanic
I can't not mention this amazing company after falling head-over-heels in love with their Victorian Terrace Glasshouse. Please check them out and get yourself a brochure… just don’t blame me if you can’t stop goggling over their glasshouses. They’re things of beauty!
Purbeck Ice Cream
Not exactly a garden accessory but PERFECT for any garden party or simple BBQ. My time at Tatton Park was fuelled by Purbeck Ice Cream - I highly recommend the Berries & Clotted Cream! What’s more, if you drop it on your lounger whilst relaxing outdoors, it’ll wipe straight off our special fabric.
The Rose Press Garden
The lovely Lizzie is planning her first stand for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It will be fabulous! She is a hive of knowledge and gardening tips and The Rose Press Garden sells the most wonderful flower seed subscription boxes.
We handmake our luxury outdoor furniture in our converted barn in Kent and often exhibit at the RHS Flower Shows. If you'd like to know which event we'll be at next - and be the first to know about our special offers and sales - please sign-up to the Armadillo Sun newsletter.
Do let me know which flower shows you are planning to visit this year, and what inspiration and ideas for garden accessories you will be looking out for for your outdoor space.
